Pumpkin Patch Fieldtrip - Fall 2011 |

Where: Lazenby Farm, Opelika, AL
We took 10 preschoolers to the Cotton Pickin' Pumkin Patch at Lazenby Farm. We learned about the importance of farming, went on a hayride, played in the corn crib, and picked our own pumpkins. What a fun day! |

Family Beach Trip - Fall 2011 |

Where: Laguna Beach Christian Retreat in Panama City Beach, FL
Description: We took 10 families and 10 volunteers on our first Family Beach Retreat. Despite the tropical storm, we enjoyed playing in the pool, sand volleyball, eating together, and relaxing with one another. It was a wonderful trip - we are hoping to make it an annual event! |

Description: For our second week-long summer camp we worked on a classic children's musical, Down By the Creek Bank. The campers enjoyed painting a backdrop, practicing singing and choreography, and drama games each day. We also took a fieldtrip to see a movie in the theater, played in the creek, and performed the show for the parents at the end of the week. |

Science Adventure Day Camp |

Description: Twelve campers came to BigHouse for a week of science fun! Mrs. Danna Coffey kept the kids in wonder and awe with her creative experiments. Each day had a different theme: Food Science (Have you ever created homemade icecream in a ziploc bag?), Color Science (Did you know you can UNMIX colors in a black marker?!), Air Science (We made our own helicopters!), Water Science (Try pushing sharpened pencils through a ziploc bag full of water. Does it burst??), and Messy Science (Slime and goop are FUN!) After our morning science experiments, we took afternoon field trips to Storybook Farms to ride horses, USA Mini Golf, and the swimming pool!

Description: We wrapped up our second Swimsuit and Towel Drive in June--this time STATEWIDE! Social workers from 61 different counties in Alabama requestied a total of 3,421 suits and towels for their foster children. With the help of our community and our gracious Lord, 3421 children now have their very own swimsuit and monogrammed towel! A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated, embroidered, loaned, delivered, and prayed. We hope that even something as simple as a swimsuit and towel can impact the children in foster care and the families that care for them.

Description: Kids throughout Lee County will be operating lemonade stands to collect money for BigHouse to help the foster children in Lee County. If you want to host a lemonade stand contact us. (Thanks to everyone who hosted lemonade stands. Kids raised over $700 for BigHouse!!)
